Check out this great piece on Todd Terje, Lindstrøm and Diskjokke in The Guardian.

The hottest ticket at a recent Oslo festival was a ‘one-off’ gig with three trailblazers of dance music: Lindstrøm, DiskJokke and Todd Terje. Alex Macpherson was there for the glorious madness. Read the whole feature here.

LIGHTS UP!
Nicholas Andersen and Julie Ho of CONFETTISYSTEM debut a new public installation and a new collection of designs, presented in collaboration with W/ — Project Space and UNITED BAMBOO.

For LIGHTS UP!, CONFETTISYSTEM has transformed W/ — Project Space into a theatrical storeroom filled with the fantastical objects and wardrobe for one of CONFETTISYSTEM’s unique hybrid of installation design and temporary objects, including a collaboration with fashion label United Bamboo to create a one-of-a-kind fringed ceremonial coat and headpiece and a video collaboration with director Jon Leone, shot on location at Creatures of Comfort in New York.

CONFETTISYSTEM has previously collaborated with United Bamboo on several stage designs for their fashion shows, as well as an ad campaign featuring artist Terence Koh; Leone has directed videos for Animal Collective, Ariel Pink and Beach House.

Throughout the month, LIGHTS UP! will host live performances in the gallery space by
ARP (Smalltown Supersound / RVNG Intl) and Bubbles (LUV LUV LUV).

Artist Abby Walton will transform the space into a Nail Salon on May 26th Thursday from 6-9pm.

Mungolian Jetset album of the week at Piccadilly

May 18, 2011Comments Off

Mungolian Jetset “Moon Jocks n Prog Rocks (the remixes)” 12″ with remixes by Todd Terje (two actually), Frisvold & Lindbæk and Montezuma is out now! It is album if the week at Piccadilly Records. You can order and read more at Piccadilly here.

Here is what Piccadilly says:
At last we get remix version of the sought-after “Moon Jocks n Prog Rocks”, featuring hot remixes from Todd Terje, Montezuma as well as Frisvold & Lindbaek.

Whether you find any truth in that or not, one thing is for sure, the new single by the printer-galactic troopers of Mungol is one hell of a ride through the sonic wonders of discofied art involving one dude’s rather merciless meeting with the (un)godly. It only happens occasionally, but it DOES happen. You’ve probably heard rumors, or read about it somewhere. Maybe it even happened to YOU? With “Moon Jocks n Prog Rocks”, Mungolian Jet Set have put it – literally – on the record: abductions by beatmongering disco aliens with prog-rock fetishes are on the rise, sometimes with hilariously fatal consequences, such as this tale of one unfortunate individual’s meeting with the more funky forces of the Cosmos.

Master of the big tune, Todd Terje is up first with a rework that sounds like those aliens took a left turn at the sign post maked ‘southern boogie-funk’. This is all about the riffing clavinet bassline and funky soft-rock guitar lick combination – a sleazy dancefloor winner. Not content with one rework, Todd then drops another – basically the same idea, but with a thwomping 4/4 slapped underneath for a disco-house flavour. Montezuma supplies some deep trippy disco vibes, while Frisvold & Lindbaek go for a driving Italo / cosmic disco style percussive romp.
TRACK LISTING

A1. Moonjocks N Prog Rocks (Todd Terje’s Schlong Tong Vocal Version)
A2. Moonjocks N Prog Rocks (Todd Terje’s Even Stiv-En Dub Version)
B1. Moonjocks N Prog Rocks (Montezuma’s Revenge Version)
B2. Moonjocks N Prog Rocks (Frisvold & Lindbaek Mix)

Nylon Magazine about Razika

May 2, 2011Comments Off

“When we think about the Norwegian music scene, black metal is the first thing that comes to mind — not the actual music, mind you, but rather all of the crazy murders, fires, suicides, cannibalism, and fights that the members of these bands were a part of. (Read about Mayhem — insane.) So anyway… we were quite surprised to discover Razika, an awesome pop-rock group of teenage Norwegian chicks who, we’re guessing, haven’t killed or eaten anyone. Instead they spend their time crafting ridiculously fun, dub-inflected pop that Gwen Stefani wishes she could be making right now. (Seriously Gwen, when is that No Doubt album coming out?)” (EC, Nylon Magazine)
You can read it in Nylon Magazine here also.
