JAZKAMER: UNDERGROUND ALBUM OF THE MONTH IN MOJO!
May 28, 2006Comments Off
"Nordic noise makers summon the electronic metal apocalypse. Not so much a tribute to Lou Reed`s label-baiting milestone, but an album of metal music made with machines. To create this digital monster Lasse Marhaug and John Hegre, aka Jazkamer/Jazzkammer, enlisted an imposing ensemble of Norwegian talent to sculpt their normally obtuse laptop noise into intense new shapes. With Ivar Bj

KEN VANDERMARK/PAAL NILSSEN-LOVE: GREAT ALL ABOUT JAZZ REVIEW
May 14, 2006Comments Off
Seven is the third recorded collaboration between Vandermark and Nilssen-Love, following Dual Pleasure (2002) and Dual Pleasure 2 (2004), both on Smalltown Supersound. It’s the most concise to date in the series, running to only three tracks and 44 minutes playing time. The album was recorded live at the duo’s home base, the Bl
BJØRN TORSKE: GREAT DJ MAGAZINE REVIEW!
May 14, 2006Comments Off
Ny Lugg 12″ review in DJ Magazine: “Just when you thought Bjorn Torske had fallen off the radar (his last output was the fantastic Trobbel LP on Telle a few years back) he resurfaces with three tracks that typify his lopsided take on the dancefloor. The EP opens with a percussive, almost gamelan slice of tech disco that teases with relentless analogue synth loops before bottoming out in a sea of reverb. Both “Skabbdabb” and “D
JAZKAMER: FAIL REVIEW

With the pretty awesome Lasse Marhaug amongst its clan, don’t expect sonic half measures here. With his experimental ‘The Shape of Rock to Come’ album still ringing in my ears, it’s quite a shock to hear that, for the most part, this LP plays it straight. Exploratory resonance on ‘The Worms will get in’ evokes the turgid primordial ooze of say Sunn O)))).But ‘Abomination’ is pure thrash; hyperspeed riffing and guttural utterances make this the star turn. But the slow skin tear of ‘Occult Glider’ comes a close second in the ‘none more black’ stakes. I don’t think I could have any more fun this year if I tried. Buy now, pay later.

We usually never sell other stuff than Smalltown stuff at our Superstore/mailorder, but we have made one exception for this great LP by a good friend of ours, David Gurrik. This is hot stuff. Weird, dark, scando electro rock with references to the first Suicide LP, early Cabaret Voltaire and This Heat. Trust us. This shit rocks weirdly! Check it out at the http://www.sts.musiconline.no/shop/displayAlbum.asp?id=30950&cid=&sid= Superstore
